What a wonderful experience! I’m happy you feel so strongly about this girl and want to make her happy. As long as you’re being yourself, you’re not letting her down because you’re presenting to her all you have to offer so you shouldn’t worry about how to approach her. As long as you care about her, I’m sure she will see that. 

Getting out of a bad relationship can be hard but the wounds do heal. It’s like learning to walk again, it may take time but if you guide this girl slowly and she will place trust in you. Good luck!
